SPICMACAY IISER Pune is a chapter of the Society for Promotion of Indian Classical Music And Culture Amongst Youth. Founded in 1977 by Dr Kiran Seth at IIT Delhi, SPICMACAY now has over 300 chapters all over India and the world. SPICMACAY organises concerts, lecture-demonstrations, Baithaks (informal talks), workshops and seminars on Indian classical music, classical dance, folk music, dance and art. In doing so, not only do we bring renowned masters of Indian music and dance to IISER Pune, but we also support talented upcoming artists by giving them a platform to perform on a national stage. We are grateful to the Pune Chapter of SPICMACAY for their support.
We organise events showcasing Indian classical art forms three to four times every semester. These include concerts, Bhaitaks, Kathak recitals and Workshops. Once every year, we also hold our flagship event, PARIJAAT — the overnight concert. We have hosted several eminent artists like Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia, Dr N Rajam, and many more.

After the COVID pandemic struck our world, we’ve seen everything shift online all of a sudden. To keep the cultural spirit alive, we decided to have a newsletter solely dedicated to the diverse forms of art in India.
Hence, as a tribute to all those amazing artists — both renowned and unrecognised, we came up with Kalaatatva!
