My name is Jax Vaughn and I've been a member of GCP for 3 years. When I first started High School, I was signed up for ceramics and not Intro to GCP. However, I heard my friend Sara Schellings had no friends in her Intro class so I decided to join her.
I am so fortunate for my friendship with Sara. Without it, I would not have had the opportunity to expand my appreciation for the natural world we live in. As I highlighted in my 2025 AP Language and Composition Exam, "It is imperative to live in the moment and appreciate every little thing". GCP has helped teach me this.
I am eternally grateful for the opportunity to be part of Holliston High School's Global Citizens Program. Only good things have come from this program. One huge highlight was the chance to travel to Italy and the South of France. Although I had a few close friends at the start of this trip, I left with many new friendships. It has now been a year, and the group chat we used that week is still active. Whenever one of us commits to college, the group chat doesn't hesitate to congratulate one another. Earlier in the year, we all went fishing together, and we even have plans to take another vacation together sometime soon.
Besides friendships, I attribute many of my college acceptances to my participation in this program. I believe this program gave me a very diverse college profile and provided so so much community involvement.
I can't believe that when I joined this program freshman year, the program was as small as 30-40 members. Now, the program has grown to over 100, and I can't wait to see what happens to future Holliston High School Global Citizens.
