Mission Statement

In order to support the greater mission of G-C Schools, the Academy at Greenfield-Central will provide a unique, flexible, holistic, and supportive academic environment for students who need an individual approach to their education in a non-traditional setting.

The Academy serves Greenfield-Central High School students who demonstrate a need for alternative placement. We exist to assist students who have struggled to find academic success in the traditional classroom achieve their academic goals and earn their high school diploma. The Academy is not an alternative to expulsion, but rather a unique approach to learning. In order to be successful, we have a unique approach to teaching and learning. We start with a blended approach, combining online curriculum with onsite learning and teaching support. Classes are smaller with a maximum student to teacher ratio of 15:1. Students complete courses at their own pace with access to instructors invested in each student’s individual success.

The Academy strives to serve the “whole” student by providing academic learning and support, non-academic and social services services, and social skills training. Elective credit can be earned through our Friday “Soft Skills” Days. These days are devoted to developing job skills essential in any career through resume and interview practice, as well as inviting guest speakers, and participating in community service. A licensed school social worker is on staff to assist with emotional health needs, access to social services, or other non-academic concerns.
