The students in 5th grade at Central Elementary will be expected to follow the guidelines of the discipline plan that has been put into place for the 4th, 5th, and 6th grades at Central. This plan affords every student the opportunity to manage his/her behavior. Our goal is to create an atmosphere where learning is the primary focus. This can be accomplished by spending less time on discipline and devoting more time to instruction. We firmly believe that lifelong success depends on self-discipline, and we have developed a plan that will help the students. Education blooms in a classroom where students follow the rules. It ensures that the teacher has more time to teach and meet academic needs, while using less of their time to guide and direct behavior. This plan will be in effect at all times.
Students will be rewarded each week as they accumulate the required number of points through our PBIS. Twenty-five (25) points per week (or less in a shortened week); totals must equal 80% to earn a reward on Friday. Special activities, such as field trips, will be provided at times determined by the classroom teachers for students who have earned the required points. Students will have the chance to earn 5 points a day. Students will not earn their points when rules aren't being followed. When a student does not have 80% earned for the week, privileges will be lost. Points will be adjusted for shortened weeks. Students must earn the required number of points to receive the end-of-nine-weeks reward as well. Weekly reports will be sent home with each child who does not earn 80% or more. Support and cooperation will be greatly appreciated.
