Mrs. Greggs’ Math Homework Policy: Let me introduce how math homework is done in my class. There are usually two math assignments each night. One is daily math, and the other is Simple Solutions. As for the daily homework, that is assigned after the lesson has been taught. It is important for the students to show me that they understand the lesson. This is why a few problems are assigned each day. In the daily math packet that the homework is in, usually on the second page, it explains the lesson. We do multiple problems together as a class before homework is assigned. The Simple Solution homework is a spiral review. It is not the daily lesson taught, it is previous standards that were taught in fourth grade. As the year continues, fifth grade standards will be introduced on the Simple Solution pages. There are help pages in the back of the book starting on page 283, if your child needs them. My philosophy is as follows: “A child is to complete his/her homework as assigned each night, if the child does not understand a problem, he/she is permitted to skip it. It will not be counted as an incomplete assignment as long as the child seeks help from me in the morning between 8/8:20 (which is homeroom time).”
Mrs. Greggs’ Spelling Homework Policy: Students make their spelling packets on Fridays after their spelling test. Students have all week to complete the packet. The pages are assigned for students to have one page a night, and test are given on Fridays. Test are taken via Spelling City. Students may seek additional practice via Spelling City.
