El Cerrito High School is a semi-urban school of 1,600 students in grades 9-12 is located in San Francisco’s East Bay just north of Berkeley. One of six comprehensive high schools in the West Contra Costa Unified School District, El Cerrito High School draws students from the communities of El Cerrito, Richmond, and Kensington. The 2022 graduating class was over 90%.
Our student body is diverse, including 16% African American, 29% Caucasian, 18% Asian American and Pacific Islander, and 30% of Hispanic origins. 6.5% of students identified as two or race categories. Approximately 195 students are Limited English Proficient, 116 are in Resource Specialist programs, and 43% of our students qualify for the Free/Reduced Lunch program. Approximately 77 students are severely or non-severely handicapped. The student-to-counselor ratio is 325:1.
