My name is Arrow Jones and I am an artist and student at Mundelein High School. I love making art because art is one of the most valuable things to culture and society. Art gives voice to words that cannot be spoken, gives light to things that hide in the shadows, and shares stories that were thought to be secret. I am an artist because I want to share my voice and ideas with the world. I love telling stories in my pieces, and it is my goal to share stories professionally.
When I create a new piece, I usually start with a single idea like a character, a background, a color palette, or even just a general feeling I want to portray. As I start sketching, a stronger mental image develops and I work harder to try to match the paper to the paper in my mind. I love using bright colors and abstract patterns in my work. My biggest inspiration is the expressionist painter, Edvard Munch, I love how he uses color and shape to show emotion in a scene. I also love modern abstract painters like Barnett Newman and Mark Rothko.
In my recent artworks, I have been using a wider variety of mediums to achieve a more complex and strange look. Recently, I've been using a mix of colored pencils, acrylic paint, and oil pastels to get a variety of textures and colors in my pieces. Creating art is one of the most important things in the world to me. It’s my identity, my dreams, my goals, my whole purpose in life. The thing I want, more than anything in the world, is to create great things and share them with the world.
