Textured Bowl

We spent about a week working on making a textured bowl. First we rolled out our clay and then cut it into the shape we needed. We got to pick a design to put onto our clay bowl. We then formed it together with more clay and used the slip as a glue. Then it went into the kelm to harden before we painted it. Lastly we put more coats of a sealant and then put it back into the kelm to finalize the project. Overall this was a great experience and I would definitely do it again.

Scratch Plate

During this project we first cut out our clan into the shape of a plate. After the clay was dry we painted it and then we used pencils to trace our pattern. Next we took a scratching knife to get all of the clay out from the middle of our pattern. Lastly we put a film over it and put it back into the kelm. This was my favorite project so far and would recommend it to anyone.

Logo

For a couple weeks we worked on our name logos. We first planed out the layout and design of our logo. Second, we traced it onto harder paper to cut out the shape we wanted for our logos. We then assembled it together with tape and more paper. After that we covered the whole thing evenly with paper meshe. Lastly we started painting. I think this project was fun but if I were to do it again I would think more about my painting and theme of the whole thing.

Clay Bowl

Clay Mug

This project was very fun and it was a great experience. I loved being on the wheel even though it took some practice! The first thing that we did was get a block of clay. We slammed it onto the wheel and got our hands wet. We started it up so that it was spinning at the right speed that was comfortable for us. Then we got to work and made whatever shape we wanted. I would say the hardest part of this project was keeping it steady. After we were done on the wheel we shaped the bottom of our peices. Then they were fired and we could pick a color and paint them.
