For my creative lines project, I tried some different techniques my art teacher taught me, like blending with water colored pencils. I also used some media of landscapes because I wanted to make a sunset reflecting off water so I just looked up on Google some ideas and found a picture with a doc leading out onto some water and thought that was a pretty idea so I used that as some inspiration. Knowing that I'll have to us some technique from this for different art pieces in the future, I'll probably press harder with the colored pencils so it looks better. Although I do really like the sunset in the sky, but I dislike the doc because it doesn't look very good in my opinion and it looks unrealistic.
During my hand drawing, I learned the concept of shading and how important it is to use darker and deeper pencil shades when adding value. We had many examples of how to add dots and how to follow what you're eye is telling your hand to go. This piece will influence my future artworks by really being able to guide how I am able to shade next, and not to listen to my brain but only follow what I see on the papers in front of me. While it's not exactly what I hoped for, I think that I will be able to be more successful the next time we have a project like this.
When I first heard that we would be able to choose a landscape painting, I immediately knew that I wanted to choose a picture with the ocean in the background. Whenever I think of the ocean I always think of how God made all the big and small creatures in it and how unique and beautiful it is. Although I'm happy with the landscape I chose, I wish I had chosen a different picture to paint because I think there were a lot of better choices, especially because there wasn't too much detail and kind of just blobs of color in the picture. I like the sky and the sun poking through the clouds of the final piece, but I don't like the sand or the sun's reflection on the ocean very much.
