In this project our goal was to make an artwork out of random lines that we previously drew. I liked having to make artwork out of our creativity and not having a set thing to make it exactly like. I think I could have done better picking a theme because a map is basic and easy, I should have challenged myself more. I think the compass and the little islands turned out really well. I should have chosen a different color for the monsters tentacles and made the land a different color.
The goal for this project was to make a realistic drawing of your hand holding a tool. I enjoyed this project a lot more than I thought I would. I could have done better on my thumb, it looks a little off, I think I messed up on the shading. I also should have spent more time working on the head of the hammer. Overall, I think I could have done better if I spent more time on it but I really enjoyed doing this project.
In this project we were supposed to make a not detailed painting of a landscape. I really enjoyed the process, but the blending was really hard to do with acrylic paint since it dried so fast.
For this project we made a clay lantern with a custom design on it. The process was really easy and it was fun to make the designs. Overall it was a relatively fast and easy thing to make. I wish that the glaze had been a bit lighter so that you could see the design better.
I made a clay whistle for class using hand-building techniques. I shaped the clay carefully to create a hollow chamber and added a small mouthpiece and air hole so it could produce sound. After smoothing the surface and refining the shape, I let it dry before it was fired in the kiln. The final piece is both decorative and functional, showing how art can combine creativity with simple science to make music.
For this project, I made a glazed ceramic coil bowl by rolling out long pieces of clay and stacking them on top of each other to build the shape. It took patience to keep the walls even and smooth everything together so it looked like one solid piece instead of separate coils. After it dried and was fired, I chose a glaze that added color and a shiny finish. Seeing it come out of the kiln finished and usable made me feel proud of the time and effort I put into it.
