For this project there were several practices with different mediums that needed to be tried before starting on the actual project itself. On left is the practice with pencil, this medium practice is my favorite and most realistic of the three. In the middle is the oil pastel practice, I am doing oil pastel for the actual portrait so this was a good way to practice getting all the color and undertones in his skin. On the right is the colored pencil practice, this was not my favorite practice but it was still helpful in deciding which medium I should ultimately do for his final portrait. The practice were very helpful in regards to choosing a medium and understanding how to correctly identify color and shadows within the photo.
Video Reflection
After watching the video of the kids in Guatemala receiving their portraits, I am so glad that we did this project and we were able to add some joy into their lives. I am so grateful to be a part of this and to know that I impacted someone's life in such a profound way. I both enjoyed creating Oscar's portrait for him and seeing his reaction but also seeing the reaction of all the other children. This project should be continued for as long as possible,.
