Introduction to Studio Art

Parker's Q1 Project

In this project I will paint a picture of a yellow butterfly including a background of purple flowers. I will learn painting technique and hope to use this skill more in the future.

Pencil Shading Project

In this project I learned how to properly shade objects with pencil graphite. Over the span of several weeks I worked on perfectly copying the dimensions of my hand picture. I was really happy with my result, and I didn't expect to be able to shade so realistically.

Clay Jar Project

In this project I learned how to use clay to shape object that I want, and how to hollow out clay. after the pot was finished I coated it with glaze paint and had to be very accurate with my lines and not bleeding over the glaze. I was impressed with how the glaze turned out and how my red lines actually popped out.

Clay Whistle Project

For this project my goal was to recreate the face of famous rapper Kodak Black. By sculpting and shaping his face and hair I created the shape. After this I glaze painted the colors to give his hair, skin, teeth, and eyes some more detail. I am happy with the detail I was able to create in the eyes and I would call this a success.

Clay Pot Project

For this 3rd quarter project, I used coils of clay to create a bowl full of designs and patterns. I blended the outside of the coils to create a smooth surface on the outside while keeping the coil design on the inside. Although my design was intricate it held its design very well.

Watercolor Painting

Water coloring was the next step in learning intro art. I learned how to use different concentrations of water and paint to make different color depths and combinations. I learned to get a handle on backgrounds and how to make the actual painting much darker so as not to blend the background and main painting. I was proud of the outcome thanks to some pen shading to create a more 3D look using shadows.

Build a 3D Story

In this project, I was assigned building and presenting a 3D story from my life. I created the story of a trip that I had a snake scare on, and I used the supplies requested by Mr. Langmaack on the project. Using Popsicle sticks, paperclips, staples, and a cup. I enjoyed getting creative with this project, and it turned out to be harder then I thought it would be.
