Textured Bowl

For this clay textured bowl I used several different flower stamps on the interior to create a design that I thought might look good. In this lesson I learned how to attach pieces of clay and blend it so it is unnoticeable that they were not always like that. If I could do this project again I would spend more time on the placement of my stamps on the clay. I really like the color that I chose to glaze my bowl, though.

Sgraffito Plate

A Sgraffito plate is made by painting a layer of paint on a clay plate then scratching a the top layer off in a specific design to reveal thee clay underneath. This project was not my brightest moment, my design did not turn out quite how I would have liked and the color I chose was not exactly what I had in mind, but for a first time I am still somewhat proud of my plate. If I had to do it over I would create clearer lines when scratching my design into the paint and when shaping the edges of the plate.

Personal Logo

For my personal logo, I struggled to find a design that included both my middle initial and first, since my first and last initials both begin with the same letter; "M". Nothing seemed to work with an "m" and a "c" like I wanted it to so I decided to just use the letter "m". I decided after a bit of brainstorming to make it in the shape of a butterfly, since this somewhat resembles an "m" and I personally like butterflies. I ran into some difficulties in the process of making this logo because nearly the entire shape is curved edges, not straight, which complicated several steps of this project. In the end though, I am fairly happy with how it turned out and I don't think there is anything that I would redo. I especially enjoyed creating the side of my logo that features a swimming pool and buoy.
