Intro to Art

Hand Drawing

For this project we were drawing our hands with an object in it. We learned how to shade and draw lines together by connecting the dots to get a better shape. We also learned how to do different textures. The goal of this was to learn how to shade and add textures to things to make them look more realistic.

Insect Painting

For this project we painted an insect and we tried to get them to not look flat. We first picked the insect we wanted and then we traced it out onto the paper. Once we had everything traced out we painted the background and then we painted the insect. After we were all done with that we could paint the border any way that we wanted. The goal of this was to learn how to not make things look flat and to not make things just like the picture we want them to just look cool.

Clay Jar

For the clay jar I made a pumpkin. We shape them how we wanted them and then we hollowed them out. Then we glazed the jar with a white glaze and did three coats. After the jar went in the kiln we put three coats of any of the colors we wanted to add on it. After we add the colors it goes into the kiln again and it comes out really glossy and pretty and then your done. The goal of this project was to learn how to glaze and add details to things.

Clay whistle

For the clay whistle we made two little pinch pot type things and stuck them together then we made something the size of an eraser and put a little stick in it to make the blower part. Then we turned it into whatever we wanted and I made an elephant. So then we glazed it twice and then we were done.

Clay Bowl

For the clay bowl we worked on using coils to make a really cool bowl. We glazed it and we picked the color we wanted and smoothed it out. I thought that this was a really fun project and I really enjoyed it! I really like working with clay.

Water color painting

For this project we used water color to paint an underwater animal. Water color was kind of hard for me with shading and blending the colors. Towards the end of the project I started to get a hang of it so I like the end outcome of my project more than I thought I would. For next time I know to use more water to make it light but you don't want to much water otherwise it might mess up your project.

Printmaking

During printmaking I learned that I need to try things first to see how it looks and then you can keep going and make it look cool. We traced the bird on to a rubber mat then we colored in the dark spots on the picture and then carved the dark spots. We also made the original picture to black and white to make it easier to do. So we carve the bird out and then put ink on it and print it onto a paper and then you get your print. At the beginning I wasn't a fan of my project but then once I put ink on it and printed it and it looked way better once I fixed some things. In the end I was proud of my project and really enjoyed it.

Spot the Differences

So for our spot the differences book we picked a picture with our partner so i chose a picture of cows. We needed to change a bunch of stuff on our picture either flipping something, recoloring something, making something bigger, removing something and duplicating something. The goal of this project was for it to be for other people to enjoy. With things like painting, we usually keep those to ourselves but for this it was for other people. Even though working on the computer isn't very fun the end product turns out to be cool and fun.

Foam Box

For making a foam box it takes some cutting skills. You need to know how to cut and how to measure things out without making the edges super rough. First we cut out the boards and then we carved our names into a metal sheet and then we put the box together. Then you put the paper on the box to make it look cool. Then we glue everything together and then we are done so we put the lid on and you get a box! This project was fun because I like to do things where I can use my hands! This project taught me a good lesson to go easy with an exact o knife and then the cutting will work a lot better.
