I loved making this plate. I chose this design because it in a way reminded me of Rapunzel. I was at first intimidated by the complexity of it but it ended up working out just fine. The only issue I ran into was when it came to the glazing portion of the project. Since certain parts of my design were smaller it was harder for the glaze to get into certain parts of the design but it ended up all working out in the end.
I struggled at first to do this project and even had to restart. On my second go around though I was able to get my desired design. One last thing I struggled with and learned for the future is to glaze better. The stamps I made on the bottom got too filled with the glaze but despite that I love my bowl and the experience I had making it.
This project has probably been my least favorite one so far but I'm still glad that I had the opportunity to do it. I selected a harder design which made it difficult throughout the whole project to complete different steps. If I ever did this again I would choose an easier design so that I could have and easier time decorating the project.
This project was definitely different than I expected it to be. I was pleasantly surprised though with how much I ended up liking it in the end. I learned that yes it is good to make certain things dramatic on the whale but to also be able to make things more settle on it takes a new skill that I had to learn during this project.
I actually enjoyed this project more than I thought I would. I chose to do an avocado because I love them and thought it would be a good project to do with it being my first time do anything like this. I do wish I would have done just half an avocado instead of a whole one though. I am very however very satisfied with the color that I ended up with.
Be able to go on the pottery wheel has by far been my favorite thing to do in art class so far. Although I never really centered the clay on the wheel I enjoyed making a variety of shapes with the clay and I think this project is the one that I'll take home and use the most.
I had a lot of doubts as I was doing this project but my final result I was happy with. The color goes perfectly with the color scheme of the rest of my house as well. The only thing I would change if I was to do it again is I would make the base slightly wider.
For this art project I went into it with no real expectations or ideas of what I was gonna do which actually ended up working out for me. By not having a particular plan it helped me have more freedom to do a variety of different things and just go with the flow of it all.
