For this project we were expected to replicate a photo of our hand holding a tool by drawing and sketching it. To start we first had to learn the basics of copying a photo onto another piece of paper, then being able to draw and shade it properly. I believe my drawing turned out well due to trial and error. I had to find the right shading techniques throughout my time completing the drawing. I am sure I learned much from this project and look forward to making another attempt at 2D Art.
For this project, we made clay bowls with custom patterns. It started by designing a specific pattern using diffrent dots and coils of clay. After we chose a specific pattern, we started building our bowl. As we continued to build our bowl, I learned various techniques to blend the clay and make my bowl the best it could be. After we finished building our bowl, we fired it and painted it. I painted my bowl with Lapis Lagoon. I really like how my color turned out, and I'm thankful I was able to learn how to make a bowl.
For this project we learned how to make and build clay lanterns with specific patterns. I really enjoyed this project because I learned how to securely attach clay together and make imprints on the different sides. After the sides we designed a top and handle and then glazed it with special glaze. I really like how mine turned out especially considering the color. I look forward to this glaze in the future.
During this project, we learned how to make and form clay whistles and add on with additional clay based on what we wanted to make. I decided to make a ship around my whistle with the front as the whistle entrance. I used a special design to make rough marks along the exterior to simulate wood on an old ship. After I was finished forming it I glazed it with three coats of a brown color and fired it. I really like the way it turned out and am excited to make another.
