Lauren's Portfolio

This is a drawing of my hand holding a small rolling pin. I am not exactly sure why I chose a rolling pin, but that is what I did. I like how it looks so realistic and I am surprised by how it turned out. I wish I hadn't been scared to put on too much shading, because it looks like it might even need some more. I learned how to calculate the exact measurements of the picture in order to make the drawing proportional.

This is a water color of a flap jack octopus from a picture I took at Monterrey Bay Aquarium. I like how it actually looks like the picture I took although, I wish it looked a little neater. I learned that the worst thing you could do to a water color is go back to a spot you already painted and add water on it after it is half dry because then it gets blotchy.

I made this clay whistle that looks like an elephant, although I am not exactly sure. I like that it actually has a whistle that sounds loud. I wish I made the ears less round and glossed another layer on the gray part to make it less blotchy.

I chose this picture of a bee on a purple flower because I thought it would look cool when I painted it. But, when I first started painting it, I was scared it was going to be really hard with the bee ad the many petals on the flower. I like the colors that I chose and I think that it actually turned out okay. If I were to do anything different, I would have made the flower petals look more realistic by adding and blending more white on the tips.

We had to made a box out of foam board stuff and we got to choose what color paper we wanted on the outside, inside, and the on lid. I also chose what design and colors I wanted on the mosaic on the lid. I don't think I would have done anything different, but I think it was a good project to end the school year with because it was very simple for me and not like a big stressful project.
