This was an extremely hard project because I had a hard time coming up with ideas for what to include in the lines. It took a lot of brainstorming, and lots of creativity. I learned a bunch during this project, including the use of imagination in art, how to use colored pencil, and working on art in a classroom with friends. It was overall a very good experience. I have a hard time not comparing myself to others as I watched their projects taking off, but I am overall very satisfied with the result of mine, especially the way that the octopus's body turned out. The colored pencil wasn't as hard as I thought it would be
This has been a very fun project, and I really appreciate the finished project. I've had a lot of fun drawing - this is the first time that I have dealt with pencils, trying to make something very realistic. Throughout most of the project, I was looking at other people's drawings and feeling like wow, I'm NOT doing good. But at one point, I think after we did a walk around the room to look at everyone's drawings, I began to realize that I was actually doing pretty good. With this newfound encouragement, I began to work harder on my drawing. It took a lot of patience, because it took A LOT of slow, small circles (which are actually very effective, though time consuming), and I got it. Overall, I am very happy with the results, and proud of my drawing.
This was a hard project for me. I had a hard time trying to match what I was putting on the canvas with what was on the photo. I originally had a picture of trees and a waterfall, but it was very difficult for me to do, so I restarted with this picture of mountain and a sunset, which I thought wasn't going to be difficult. It proved to be harder than I expected. I am overall happy with the results, though. I really like how I was able to portray the mist on the mountains. All in all, it was a hard but rewarding project.
This project has hit me with the most problems that could possibly exist in the world of creating a clay whistle. My first attempt to make a whistle ended with the body being immensely too large, so I started over. The second whistle turned out to have a better shape, so I decided to turn it into a dragon. Obviously, there are no wings. I didn't add enough slip, so the wings came off in the kiln (I would like to point out that they were really cool looking, though) So, I decided to just make it a serpent. The textures look really cool with the paint. Also, at some point, there were eyes that were painted on the face, but they kind of died when the other glazes mixed with them. In spite of all of this, I actually am very proud of how it turned out. This was a really cool project that I really enjoyed doing.
