India Project

Preflection paragraph:

In this project we will be drawing an orphan from India so that it can then be sent to them. We first will be trying out three methods for drawing: oil painting, colored pencil, and pencil. After testing each method we will pick our favorite and start our drawings. I am excited to be able to be part of such an important project. These may bring joy to each child and I hope they will make their day better.

Pencil

Colored Pencil

Oil Pastel

During the last few weeks I have been able to learn more about each form of art. I haven't done 2-D art in two years so it was a good refresher before heading right into the project. I was able to relearn how to do both pencil and colored pencil. I was also able to do oil pastels for the first time, which was a good learning experience and has brought my attention to this great technique. I decided to do the pencil for my project because I found that it was the most detailed and worked the best for me.

Final India Portrait

Doing this project I got better at deciphering where to shade. My favorite part of this project was drawing the ears. My least favorite part of this project was drawing the eyes. If I could redo this project I would make his left eye darker and more shaded.

I hope that when this child receives his portrait he is excited for how it turned out. If I could say something to him I would tell him thank you for letting me draw his portrait and tell him that I have been praying for his well being thorughout this process and will continue to do so.
