Carson's Artwork

When first observing the box, the first thing you see is the baseball field on top. Baseball takes up a lot of my time, and is a large part of my life. I felt creating this would be fitting, and the colors were used to tie in the whole field (green and yellow). The bases/infield were challenging, so i used a picture for reference.

This matching jar set also includes a cup on the side, for whatever task needed. The lids slide on and off with ease, and can lean against the jar if it isn't needed.

The four pieces of pottery above were crafted on the pottery wheel. The mugs are coated in "Jade Pebble", and "Night Sky" was used for the bowls. I found the mugs to be the easier of the two to craft, since the bowls have a tendency to expand and collapse.

This large clay pot took a while to craft, but was an enjoyable process. It had to be built up w/ the addition of coils, and carved with a variety of tools. It has a simple diamond pattern around the sides, with the diamond being split up into four triangles.

This "baby (hammerhead) shark" is actually a lighter grey than it appears in the picture, but otherwise the overall appearance is reflected well. It's grey fades to white going down towards it's belly and on the sides. Despite the tail taking a long time and many different versions, the end product was worth it.

The box above took some time, but I was able to wrap things up at the end. My initials and jersey number are both present, along with a touch of neon. Neon seems to be my color, considering the flashy shoes I wear and the occasional neon green accessory in baseball. While I would have liked a little more time w/ this product to perfect some things, I am happy with the unique way of representation.

This project took roughly a semester to complete, but it was without a doubt my favorite yet. I thoroughly enjoyed working on each stage of the assignment, whether it was filling in the grid with color dots or gluing paper dots. I wished I would have picked a portrait instead of a random picture because I am not thrilled with the overall clarity of the final product. However, the progress between weeks was what made this project my personal favorite.
