For this project, we had to make one picture out of the 9 lines we chose as a class. This was a struggle for our class because we had to be creative with our imagination, and we didn't want to copy others around us. My favorite part of this project was the feeling of coming up with a picture for the lines. Once you figure out an idea that you've struggled with for like 5 minutes straight, it gets better.
For this project, we had to replicate a picture of our hand holding a tool. We used a method of doubling the photo onto the paper and tracing lines exactly as they were seen using dots. We used four different shades of pencil to create a range of values. This project took around two weeks. My favorite part of this project was seeing the artistic skills that I didn't know I had show.Â
For this project, we were tasked with creating a painting of a landscape of our choice. I chose one with a beautiful sky, mountains, and ocean. We began by deciding what parts to paint first. The best way is to start from the furthest and work your way to the closest. I learned many new painting techniques to improve my project. This landscape painting took me about 3-4 weeks to complete.
For this project, we started with a metal bowl with paper towels over it to get our design. Adding clay coils was our next step. We measured them out and squished one to another. Finally, it was time for the kiln to do its work. Once that was done, we picked out glaze color and added 3+ layers. The final step was the kiln for a second round. This clay bowl took me about 3 weeks to complete. The hardest part of this art project was adding the 3+ layers of glaze. Once all the glaze dried in various spots, it was hard to differentiate where you started. I learned an important part of this was that it is better to do more than three layers than fewer.
For this project, We made a usable whistle with clay. I decided to make mine sort of like Winnie the Poo. One thing I wish I did better on was glazing it. When using two different colors, it is very important they do not overlap. I fialed in this area because I forgot to glaze the eyes balck, and covered it with yellow glaze. I realized my mistkae and added black over. This caused it to leak when taken out of the kiln.
For this project, we made clay lanterns. We started by cuting out clay rectagles. Once we chose our prints and designs, we started assembling the partly dry peices of clay onto one another to form the latern shape. I chose lavender-like purple glaze for this project to match the imprinted flowers on my lantern.
For this project, we had to learn many techniques about watercolor before we started. I had a hard time with those little projects and assignments, but in the end, I belive it was worth the stress. We had AI make out image and then traced it onto a paper to start the process of watercoloring. My favorite part of this painting was doing the actual hammerhead shark. THis was way easier for me than the background because it had more structure and organziation needed.
