Creative Lines Drawing
In one drawing we were assigned to draw squiggly lines randomly. We then picked nine out of the whole class and they were placed into their own box. For each box, we had to make some sort of scene or object out of that line resulting in nine different pictures.
In the drawing to the left, we had the same exact lines but were assigned to make one big picture. I thought this project was going to be hard but once I got my idea sorted out, it was fairly easy.
Hand Drawing
In this drawing, we were assigned to make a hand drawing tool with only pencils. We first started out measuring our printed picture with our actual paper using a little strip of paper making dots. After connecting the dots with the lines we finally started shading. After about a week and a half of shading, we were done.
Hand Drawing
Before coming into this painting I thought it was going to be really easy and I would get it done in about 3 days. I then realized that this was going to be a lot harder then I had imagined. It took me about 4 days to just do the sky. It was really hard trying to blend all of the colors together because they kept drying. I soon got it sort of blended and then worked towards the water. The water took a long time. I didn't know how to get the texture of water to show, but after a little help of Langmaack, I got it to look the way it does.
Whistle
In this project we started out with some fresh clay. We had to make a square first and then two even finger pots. We then had to put the two cups together and blend while still having air on the inside. Then we had to put the eraser looking clean on the side of it. After we were done with that we had to figure out how to make it whistle. It took me a couple of days and a lot of do overs but I finally got it perfect. Once we got it perfect we let Langmaack bake it and then it was time to glaze it. We chose the colors we wanted and glazed them for a couple of days. Then it was finished.
Jar
In this project we were required to make a pot weather it was supposed to be something or nothing. I tried to do some somethings but those did not work out very well. Then I gave up and just did a nothing jar. I wanted it to be a circle because I thought it would look cool. Then I painted it pink with blue strips.
Clay Bowl
In this project we started off getting a plastic clear bowl and taping paper towels all over it. We then had to create three designs on paper of what we wanted out bowl to look like. After that we had to pick out which one we liked best and drew it onto the bowl with a sharpie. Then we got coils from the machine and laid them onto the bowl exactly how our design was. after smoothing that all out Laangmack fired our bowls. We then glazed our bowl with many coats and then we were done. This project was definitely one of my favorite clay projects we have done.
Oil pastel
In this project we were assigned to pic and insect off of the internet. He printed the paper we sent to him and we scribbled on the back of the paper. We then traced that important parts of the picture so that we could color it in. We then got a lesson on how to blend and create sharp edges. This lesson has taught me patience. I have had to go over many parts many times to get it right. I really liked learning how to draw with oil pastels.
Watercolor
In this project we had to choose an under water animal that we would like to watercolor. After doing that he gave a couple of lessons on how to blend and how to make the sharp edges we wanted. I then traced the animal onto the paper. After picking the color scheme monochromatic I started to watercolor the background of my whale. While moving on to watercolor the whale, Mr. Langmaak gave many lessons on how to add layers. I think that this project is very fun. It taught me to be patient with the water on how it flowed and what the end result would look like.
Bird book
This project challenged my creative skills. I am really happy how it turned out. It took a lot of patience trying to carve out every single detail about my owl. I am really glad I chose to do this owl because it wasn't too hard but it was challenging enough for me. It was one of my favorite projects that I did this year and I am sad it is over.
Box
Before I started this project I thought it was going to be really easy because it was just a box. I soon realized that it was way harder than that and there was way more step than expected. I didn't really like this project because it was hard to get all of the measurements exact and it was hard to glue everything together. I also didn't like how if you messed up one step on the project, it was hard to turn back and make it neat.
Lantern
This project took a lot of time and failures. I couldn't figure out how to put each of the slabs up without it cracking. I then got it after like 4 tries and it still didn't look great but it was OK. I smoothed out all of the edges and made the lid. The lid took a long time too but I eventually got it. I then glazed it with three coats and Laangmack fired it. This was definitely not my best project but it taught me patience. It is also the first project of the year so it's OK.
Plate
This is my plate. I really liked this project even though it could be better. It was very easy to make the clay plate because you don't really have to do anything with the clay after you cut it out. I then glazed it with my blue color and traced out the design. It was very easy to trace it and carve it because I did it all in one day so it was wet. I noticed when my friends did it on different days they struggled more while carving because it was more dry. I lastly coated it with clear glaze and waited for it to be done in the kiln.
Personal Logo
This is my personal logo. This project was pretty hard to do and it took a lot of time. What made this project hard was that if some of your measurements were off in the beginning, your whole project is going to be off. I do really like how this project reflects who you are as a person by expressing what you put on your logo. This project was definitely not my favorite but was not my least favorite.
