Clay Box

I like the designs of the flowers and branches that I made in the clay. I wish that I had constructed my box better though, it is lopsided. I also wish that I had glazed it better with the white glaze. It is kind of thin and splotchy. I learned that when I use the white watercolor glare I need to pay close attention to how many layers I put on. I chose to use the watercolor glaze because my original plan was to paint the flowers I drew different colors with the watercolor glaze. But, after I used the white glaze it dried on too thick and it got in all of the grooves. So I decided to keep it simple with the white and yellow.

Pottery Wheel

I love how the glazes turned out, they look really cool from where the little glass chunks are . I wish I'd been more careful on the trimming wheel so my bowls wouldn't have flew off and been uneven. I learned that I need to keep the pottery, when trimming, secure and not to press too hard when I am shaving off excess clay. I chose to make the pottery with a blue and a green glaze because I wanted the bowls to and mug to match, like a set, and the vases as well.

Matched Set

I really like how the watercolor glazes ended up turning out. I should have paid more attention to how level the top of the vases are. I learned that I need to be very careful on how I shape the clay. I chose to use the watercolor glazes because I wanted to a faded blue to green to grey look.

Coil Pot

I love how the shape of my pot turned out. I wish that I had used more brightly colored glazes because it showed up kind of dull. I learned that in order to have a nice smooth, symmetrical shape I need to be very careful on how I lay the coils and form the pot as I go. I chose the glazes and shape because I wanted a simple design.
