Intro to Art

hand drawing

Drawing my hand with a tool was so much fun but also challenging at times. I learned so much from this project. One thing that was hard for me was looking at a small picture and trying to draw it bigger. One thing I learned that is very important is knowing where to add texture and where it should just be flat. I was really surprised how well I did and how realistic it looks.

insect painting

Painting a butterfly was very fun. Ever since I was little I have never been really good with paint. Through this project I realized how much you can do painting. While painting my butterfly, one of the hardest things for me was trying to copy a picture but then realizing I did not have to paint it exactly like the picture. All I had to do was paint it how I wanted it to look. I was very pleased with how my butterfly looked and have grown to like painting better.

clay jar

Making a clay pot was very fun. I think that having to choose what I was going to make was the hardest part, but then I was able to narrow it down to something that I love. The reason I chose to do cow print is because cows are part of my life and I love showing and working cattle. I think the coolest part about this project is seeing the finished product. It comes out so smooth and shinny. I was very pleased with how my clay pot came out and definitely would love to work with more clay along the way.

clay bowl

Making a clay bowl was a very fun and easier project to do. For my bowl, I was looking for simple and clean look. I chose white because it kind of describes who I am, plain and simple. This project was very satisfying. I think the best part was smoothing everything out. All in all, I really enjoyed this project.

clay whistle

For my clay whistle I chose to do a cow. I think the hardest part of this project was getting the whistle to actually whistle. One thing that inspired me to do a cow is because I show them. I tried to base the clay whistle on my own cow. This was a fun project and I was very pleased to see what it looked like when out of the kiln.

water color painting

Before we began water coloring I was not looking forward to it. One part that I did not enjoy was doing the background. I felt like it was stressful because you had to have everything done before the water dried up. I ended up redoing my back round. After starting the painting of my animal, I grew to like it more. One of the main things I learned is that you need to make sure you start light and then gradually go into a darker color making sure you have shadows. After coming out of this project I can say that I've grown to enjoy water color and am very pleased with how my animal turned out.

bird print making

In the beginning of this project, I did not like my bird. It was not turning out how I wanted it to. The first printing I made was not good so I had to cut more and make it cleaner. After multiple prints it finally turned out. I think my favorite print was printing on newspaper. Towards the end of this project I ended up really liking print make and would definitely do it again. However, I think I would probably choose a harder bird to print.

copper/foam box

This was a really fun project to end the year off with. It is something that is completely different from the previous project we have done. One thing I really enjoy is working with metal. It took a long time trying to figure out what paper I wanted to use. I chose this paper as it is Aztec and reminded me of something western. I think it is really cool to see all the things you can do with metal. Punching my name in was fun. I am really pleased with how my project turned out.

spot the differences

To me, this project was really hard and frustrating at times. Sometimes I just couldn't figure out what I was doing and was so ready to give up. I will admit, I am definitely not the tech-yest person. Getting further into the project I was really pleased with how well I was doing at photo shopping. There were things I did that you could hardly notice. One thing I really liked about this project was working with a partner. Working with a partner made it more fun and it was easier to help each other. For the most part, I probably wouldn't want to do this project again but I can admit that there are things I enjoyed about making the Spot The Differences.
