SLAVERY'S ROOTS

How did slavery manage to persist even after the abolition of slavery?
Forced Labor is Slave Labor.
Since the invention of private prisons, numerous large corporations have seized the opportunity to capitalize on the coerced labor of many incarcerated individuals. As a result, the focus on rehabilitation has been overshadowed, as prisoners are compelled to endure arduous work hours amidst hazardous conditions. This revelation of exploitation has precipitated alarming spikes in mass incarceration, disproportionately affecting people of color.
OUR CLAIM
People are enduring slavery within the United States prison system, subjected to harsh treatment and forced labor without any form of compensation for the benefit of private companies. Article 4 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) states that “No one shall be held in slavery or servitude.” Yet, by forcing prisoners to work for unfair pay, their rights are being ignored. To combat this, it is essential to prioritize prisoner’s time for rehabilitation to normal life.
