Form Responses

  • Should I bring textbooks to school? It isn't required to bring textbooks to school. Many teachers have classroom copies of textbooks that the students can use. Some teachers request their students to bring their textbooks on special occasions, so make sure to check in with your teacher regarding this.

  • Is taking a language and biology hard to take all in one year? It’s definitely a challenge but with good time management skills, it’s definitely manageable.

  • How do we look at all the clubs we can join? Club day will be on September 9th and 10th at lunch. It will be held in the rally court.

  • Do you have to take Honors and AP classes to have a higher chance of getting into college? No, although Honors and AP classes challenge your education and can help you be ahead of your classes once you get into college, colleges don’t take the courses you took into consideration when deciding who gets in.

  • When will your GPA Matter? A cumulative High school GPA measures the grades from your Sophomore, Junior, and Senior years. They are considered for college applications and academic teams and scholarships.

  • When are grades measured and input? When are they important? Grades are measured four times per semester, but they can always be accessed and updated on PowerSchool. At the end of each Semester, grades are input into your permanent transcript, and any grades below C- are considered failing grades. If a failing grade is present at the end of each semester, credit can be recovered with summer school.

  • Do clubs/sports count towards anything? They don’t count towards GPA directly, however, they do count as extracurriculars on applications for NHS, CSF, and more. They can also be helpful to get leadership experience and can aid in college applications.

  • When are the badminton tryouts? Tryouts will be announced on the student bulletin board and flyers will be around the school with further information.

  • Can I do a one-week trial then drop out? No, you cannot do a one-week trial and drop out of a class. You either commit and finish the class or you drop out and take over a teacher’s aide position. However, with AP and honors classes, if the class load becomes too much, you can move down to a lower level of that class at any point in the first few weeks of school.

  • Do things like taking piano or singing lessons count as extracurriculars? Yes.

  • Is stagecraft something that you have to “try out” for at the beginning of the year or can you join whenever you want? Beginning Stagecraft is a class you take at any grade level. You only need to “try out” for stagecraft if you are going into the Advanced Stagecraft class instead.

  • Do the amounts of tests slow down? No, it also depends on the classes you take and the teacher you get.

  • What is the typical transition from one sport to another? Communication with your coach and counselor if there’s an issue.

  • What are finals typically like? Finals can be stressful or nerve-racking sometimes but teachers will prepare you and assure you that you’re ready to take the test for their class, some choose to do final projects and/or no final at all and in these classes.

  • Can I switch my elective classes? Not once you’ve chosen them. If you’re taking a year-long elective, you’re stuck with it for the most part, unless you switch an academic class or take a sport and your schedule changes. Even then, most people have to stay with their chosen elective. If you took a semester elective, you can switch to a new one for the second semester.
