Kyle Davidson is a student at Wayland High School and co-founder of Students for Solace. In October 2025, during the government shutdown and amid growing concerns about potential cuts to SNAP (food assistance) benefits, Kyle felt compelled to take action. Q: What is the hardest part of starting or continuing a charity?
A: The real minor things that add up, like sending thank you emails after a drive, posting on the Instagram and Newsletter and taking photos of the drive/event. If you are wondering why on the Our Impact page, there is no photo for the February Food Delivery is because we just forgot to take a photo before loading or unloading the food.

Q: What is an experience that stuck with you?
A: During the second day of the November Afghan Food Drive, after delivering to one of the families in Manchester, NH, the father of that family ran outside and thanked us profusely. Although he couldn't speak that much English, the smile on his face said everything. Every time we plan a drive or deliver food, what keeps me going is imagining that same smile on the faces of people getting donations.

Q: What would you say to others who want to start their own charity?
A: Go for it! I definately reccomend starting one not just because you are helping others, but because of how fun it is to run a drive or an event. My biggest suggestion is to start one as soon as you can because one of my biggest regrets with Students for Solace is not starting it sooner. Along with that, I reccomend that others keep in mind how much work a charity by two people is.
