I began my journey as a Diploma in Business Studies student at Politeknik Mersing. At the time, my only goal was to graduate and get a decent job. But along the way, something changed I started developing a deep interest in business and finance.
During my internship at IOI Properties, I was exposed to the real-world environment of accounting and finance. I learned how to handle bank reconciliations, payment vouchers, and use systems like IFCA.net and Esker. That experience made me realize, I actually enjoy this field and could see myself growing in it.
After completing my internship, I was absorbed into the company as an Assistant Account. While working full-time, I made the decision to pursue my Bachelor's Degree in Business (Finance) part-time at UiTM. It hasn’t been easy managing deadlines, lectures, and work responsibilities is tough but it’s a sacrifice I’m willing to make for my future.
One of the biggest challenges has been time management. Working full-time while studying requires discipline and self-motivation. There were moments of stress, but I pushed through by staying focused and reminding myself why I started this journey.
I’ve discovered that I’m someone who enjoys structure, numbers, and solving problems. I also work well with people from different backgrounds and learn quickly in new environments. My time in the accounting and finance world has taught me that I thrive when I’m challenged.
In the next few years, I hope to grow into roles like Finance Executive or Financial Analyst. I’m also interested in pursuing professional certifications like ACCA or even a Master’s degree in the future. For now, I’m focused on completing my degree and gaining more experience in the finance industry.
This reflection is not about presenting myself as perfect. It’s about showing how I’ve grown, both personally and professionally. I believe the journey matters just as much as the destination.
