Project Purposes
The purpose of this project is to create an engaging and educational advocacy video that highlights the importance of kelestarian alam sekitar, or environmental sustainability. This video is designed to spread awareness about how our daily actions can impact nature, and to encourage people to take small but meaningful steps to protect the environment. Whether it's reducing waste, saving energy, or preserving green spaces, the goal is to remind everyone that caring for the environment is a shared responsibility. Through clear messages and relatable visuals, this project hopes to inspire viewers to be more mindful of their surroundings and to take part in creating a cleaner and healthier world for everyone.
Deforestation is one of the leading threats to our environment, with the world losing around 10 million hectares of forest each year — an area roughly the size of South Korea. Trees play a critical role in absorbing carbon dioxide, producing oxygen, and providing homes for countless species. When forests are cleared for agriculture, logging, or urban development, not only is wildlife displaced, but carbon stored in trees is released back into the atmosphere, worsening climate change. For example, the Amazon Rainforest, often called the “lungs of the Earth,” has lost over 17% of its forest cover in the last 50 years — pushing many species toward extinction and increasing global warming.
Waste and chemical pollution occur when harmful materials like garbage or toxic substances enter the environment. Common sources include household waste, factory runoff, and agricultural chemicals. These pollutants can contaminate soil and water, harming wildlife and human health. For example, plastic in oceans injures marine animals, while chemical spills poison rivers. If not managed properly, pollution threatens ecosystems, clean water, and food safety.
Climate change is the long-term warming of Earth’s atmosphere and surface, mainly caused by human activities like burning fossil fuels for transport, electricity, and industry.
This leads to more greenhouse gases, which trap heat and raise global temperatures.
As a result, ice caps are melting and sea levels are rising.
Extreme weather — including floods, heatwaves, and storms — is becoming more frequent.
Some areas are experiencing heat levels that endanger both humans and wildlife.
Wildfires, droughts, and coastal erosion are also on the rise.
To fight this, we must reduce emissions and protect ecosystems.
Switching to clean energy is key to slowing climate change.
Waste & Recycling
Reduce: Focuses on minimizing the use of resources and preventing waste generation in the first place. For example, buying in bulk or choosing products with less packaging.
Reuse: Involves finding new ways to use old items to extend their life and reduce the need for new products.
Recycle: Converts waste materials into new products, saving energy and raw materials (e.g., recycling paper to reduce deforestation).
Small actions, big impact! Try these simple habits to help the environment:
🌿 Bring Your Own Bag
Say no to plastic — carry a reusable bag when shopping.
💡 Turn Off the Lights
Save energy by switching off lights and appliances when not in use.
♻️ Recycle Right
Sort your trash and recycle paper, plastic, glass, and cans properly.
🚮 Don’t Litter
Keep your surroundings clean — always throw rubbish in the bin.
🌱 Plant a Tree
Trees help clean the air and give shade. Even one tree makes a difference!
