The Problem

Every day, millions of tons of waste are thrown into the world's oceans. 23 million tons of aquatic waste leakage end up in our oceans every year. Millions of people are affected by this and their lives get ruined because of this. Water pollution is a serious problem in Union County too, there are invisible PFAS and forever chemicals sitting in the water sources the we get our water from, such as the Catabwa River. 

The Effect

This pollution directly impacts ecosystems and causes the health of those ecosystems to rapidly deteriorate. Water pollution from trash, chemicals, and runoff contaminates rivers, lakes, and drinking water, harming ecosystems and increasing health risks for communities
