Designing a Solution
Designing a Solution
Sketches: We combined three features in our designs to cater to different quadrants of plant's needs.
Watering: Humidity sensor or color sensor.
Lighting: Rotating headlight to provide direct and indirect sunlight.
Adaptability: An online interface to track the status of a plant, and based on sensor input, the plant maintenance system will adapt as needed.
Decision Matrix:
This design is made up of 7 main compartments with walls that slide into place on the left and right side. This allows for a customizable pot size as the plant continues to grow and expand. Beneath each component, there is a hidden layer to store all electrical components. A water compartment with a head both serves as both fulfilling the plant's light and water needs
Claire’s sketch #3 won. Following a brief discussion between the 4 of us, we decided to combine both Claire and Elijah’s sketch #3 for convenience sake. They both fit the criteria but ultimately had their weaknesses, which when put together, cancel each other out.
