May is Asian Heritage Month.
Asian Heritage month was officially declared in 2002 by the federal government. This was due to the effort of hard working people such as the Honourable Dr. Vivienne Poy, the first Asian Canadian appointed to the Senate of Canada. It is a time to celebrate the rich cultures of Diverse Asian ethnicities in Canada and a reminder to continue combating all forms of discriminations.
For the year of 2023, the theme of AHM is "Stories of Determination".
