Following up with your tutee to confirm their interest is a good idea. Send them a message telling them you can help if they need and want to schedule a session. If there is still no response, email one of the execs or Ms. Vibert to reassign you to someone else.
If your tutee doesn’t respond after multiple attempts (min 3) of reaching out, email one of the execs or Ms. Vibert to help you connect with your tutee or reassign you to someone more engaged.
Yes, it is normal since some students may prefer on-demand tutoring. However, you should check in periodically (maybe every week) to remind them you are there to help. If this doesn’t work out for you, reach out to the peer tutoring team to assist you.
Staying consistent is important for improvement, so talk with your tutee about setting a regular schedule. If they continue to miss/cancel sessions, let the execs or advisors know so they can address the issue or reassign you.
Try to make time during your next tutoring session, and ask your tutee what are some ways that they enjoy learning or what methods may work better for them, and try adapting your teaching style to suit those needs.
Yes, if you are experiencing difficulty with your tutor, lack of communication, schedule conflicts, or other reasons, fill out the tutee drop form found on the resources page, or in the Google Classroom.
If your name isn’t found on the log sheet, make a copy of one of the cells and rename it as “Last Name, First Name”. You can then start filling it out with your information.
When being matched with a tutee, you should receive an email from one of the Head of Matching along with the name of your tutee, their availability, subject, their teacher, contact information, and any extra notes your tutee would like you to know.
Being matched with a tutee can take some time. It’s normal to wait for a few weeks before receiving an email. If you have been waiting for an excessive amount of time, you can contact one of our Heads of Matching, and they will do their best to help.
Yes, in many cases, tutors can handle multiple tutees if their schedule allows. If you’re interested in taking on additional tutees or want to have fewer tutees, contact one of the Heads of Matching.
