2026-2027 Tigerpalooza Recipients
Bo Maynes is a long time Norman Tiger. He has been a constant presence at Norman High School for 23 years. He served as the athletic director, wrestling coach and history teacher. Growing up in Kansas, Bo was an undefeated 11-time Kansas Kids Federation State Champion, followed by two Cadet All-American honors and three Junior All-American honors, including the 1996 Junior National Championship. At Salina South High School, he accomplished something almost unimaginable: four undefeated seasons and four individual Kansas State Championships. Even more remarkable, Bo was never taken down during his entire high school wrestling career. This is a testament to the discipline, preparation and determination that would become hallmarks of his life far beyond the wrestling mat. Bo brought that talent to the University of Oklahoma, where he became a four-year letter winner for the Sooners at 125 pounds. In 2003, he won the NWCA All-Star Classic and captured the Big 12 Championship, defeating Oklahoma State's Skyler Holman to become OU's first 125-pound conference champion since 1999. That victory earned Bo a trip to the NCAA Championships.However, Bo's most meaningful legacy may be what happened after the final collegiate whistle.In 2004, he began teaching and coaching at Norman High School and devoted himself to doing for young people what great coaches and teachers had done for him. When he inherited a young wrestling program that needed rebuilding, Bo didn't focus on what the team lacked. He walked the halls looking for kids who needed an opportunity, and he found them. For Bo, wrestling has never been only about winning. It is about teaching young people discipline, perseverance, humility, commitment and how to get back up when life puts you down.
Away from school, the titles that matter most to Bo are husband, father, friend and man of faith. He and his wife, Christina, are the parents of three children, Cade, Rachel and Colin. His parents and sister are also members of the Norman community, and his mom and dad, after relocating to the area many years ago, had second “careers” working in Norman Public Schools. Bo’s deep and abiding faith, positive outlook, grit, determination and family values have been a source of strength throughout his life in victories, disappointments and when challenged both on and off the mat.
Bo was recently diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. He and his wife have both chosen to stay off work while he undergoes his initial treatment. Throughout his time at Norman High, Bo has made an impact on countless students, teachers and families.
2026 RECIPIENTS
Bridges of Norman is a non-profit organization that empowers high school students in family crisis to pursue a high school education without obstacles. Bridges' goal is to provide students with a safe place to live and to give them the confidence to continue with their high school journey. Bridges strives to ensure that these students never feel ashamed or at fault for the circumstances they face. They support their students monetarily, physically, and mentally.
Make-A-Wish Oklahoma is a state-wide non-profit organization dedicated to creating life-changing wishes for children diagnosed with critical illnesses. Founded in 1982, the organization believes that a wish can be a pivotal moment in a child's treatment journey, inspiring them with renewed strength and hope. With the help of volunteers, donors, and supporters, Make-A-Wish Oklahoma has granted over 4,200 wishes that create unforgettable experiences and provide joy to wish kids and their families, helping them navigate the rest of their treatment journeys on the path to wellness.
Each year, Tigerpalooza and Norman North’s philanthropy week, SPUD, pledge 10% of our total amounts fundraised to a joint recipient. This year, our crosstown recipient is The Beacon Project! The Beacon Project is a non-profit organization dedicated to fighting chronic childhood hunger and teen homelessness. They provide students in need with supplies to thrive in their educational journeys, as well as food and overall support.

SunHive Collective is a non-profit organization that creates a safe, welcoming space for young adults with disabilities to grow in their daily living. social and transitional skills. Each person's individual and unique abilities are cultivated and fostered through organic, hands-on experiences that help them thrive while building meaningful relationships within the community.
In The Middle of a Miracle is a non-profit organization that serves pediatric cancer patients with a focus on teenagers. In The Middle of a Miracle strives to love and support teens battling cancer through various means. programs, In The Middle of a Miracle hopes to make the hospital feel more like home.
Crosstown for a Cause Each year, Tigerpalooza and Norman North's philanthropy week, SPUD, pledge 10% of our total amounts fundraised to a joint recipient. This year, our crosstown recipient is the Salvation Army of Cleveland County! Salvation Army is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide food, shelter, and hope to people in need. This mission is carried out through various initiatives to meet human needs without discrimination.
