I am a mixed media artist who primarily works with strong color hues to convey emotions that appeal to the senses or uncover a deep personal meaning. I primarily work with gouache, acrylic paint, watercolor, and colored pencil. Collaging patterns, or creating visual disturbances in the paper texture, color, or material has also been a frequent pattern in my art. My color palette includes contrasting colors of varying saturations and vibrance. By contrasting a red and a blue, I can display emotions of anger and sadness. With the use of a dull green I can inflict a feeling of disgust and nausea.
My media approach depends on the feeling I hope to invoke through my art. Watercolor paint can be smooth, flowy, perfect for a light airy, and free expression. Colored pencils can appear harsh, stoic, solid, and strong. By experimenting with these different media I am able to make emotions real on a piece of paper .My goal is to inflict emotion upon the viewer and to draw the observer in with details in order to express societal tendencies or problems. For me, art is largely about creating connections. By selecting specific topics to work on, I am able to create connections with my art. I want to draw the viewer's attention to subtle seemingly insignificant details. My interest is in showing the interference of feeling with society or memory. I have always been expressive through my art rather than words, employing my beliefs, feelings, or interests to create. The atmosphere, color, and theme of my work is a reflection of my thoughts in a specific moment in time brought to life forever.
My work explores themes of social injustice and personal phobias and emotions. Being Polish connects me to a different realm of world issues that greatly inspire what I create. Poland's proximity to the ongoing Ukraine/Russia conflict has inspired me in numerous aspects of my work. Representing this kind of injustice is important to who I am as a person, and is essential for my art. I take great interest in studying people's feelings and think about what properties the feeling holds. Illustrating these feelings allows me to explore emotions on a whole new level. I match colors to their perception with emotion or what I perceive a certain situation to encompass. While the meaning in some of my pieces may be clear, when every viewer can see something different in each of my art pieces, that is what I find beautiful. When I start a new piece of work, I take inspiration from the world around me. If I have noticed the sky turn a deeper shade of gray, and I start to hear the plummets of rain outside my window, I use this to my advantage in creating art. Art is a reflection of people's creativity. My goal is to bottle up this creativity in the best way possible and spill it onto a piece of paper creating something that both the viewers of my work and I can appreciate.
