I created this piece to discuss the prevalence of Black trauma being shared through social media and its effect on how people interpret and react to such trauma. I believe that such an influx of negative imagery being shared at such a high rate has lead to a sort of desensitization among the people viewing the imagery. This in turn, makes it more difficult for people to sit and reflect with the events around them, it muddies the Black experience and allows those experiences to be treated like everything else on the internet. It exists in the limelight for a moment and is gone by the time a new trend pops up. I chose to depict myself in a cartoonish way to show how its almost like someone has gone and placed a filter over the real experiences of Black individuals allowing it to become more digestible and be taken less seriously.
"Ocho Inbetween" is my comic book series that I'm currently working on. It follows the story of two teens who want to become professional ghost hunters.

For most of my digital illustrations, I actually begin by working traditionally
I create a base drawing to work from, developing interesting linework and textures, then refine the drawing digitally by using color to emphasize certain features.
