The Colorado Department of Education defines "Professional" using the following descriptors:
Time & Work management
Career literacy
Grit and Resilience
Work Ethic; dependable and reliable
My Definition:
In my opinion, professionalism is to be determined to give your work your all and understand that everything you do has an impact on yourself and others. It's all about being dependable, an achiever, and being responsible.
Self starter- I take initiative without needing someone to push me, which means I'm the kind of person who makes things happen.
Organized- I keep things in order which helps me stay on top of my work and makes life easier for everyone around me.
Empathy- I'm able to put myself in someone else's shoes which makes me better at connecting with people and understanding what they really need.
Communication skills- When I can express myself clearly and listen well, everything from teamwork to problem-solving becomes smoother.
Social Media management- I know how to navigate digital spaces and engage people where they actually spend their time.
Reliable- People know they can count on me, and that kind of consistency builds real trust over time.
Make the most out if this internship and make as many connections as possible
Prepare for college and any other internships I take before entering the real world.
In the next 3-5 years I would like to be graduating or graduated from either ASU or CU Boulder after majoring in interior or environmental design. I want to have been prepared and networked with different firms from internships that I will have taken throughout the next years. My goal after college is to move into a firm or start my own successful business involving interior design where I travel around the world and study different architecture and interior design styles and bring it back to the US to help make houses feel like homes.
