The Colorado Department of Education defines "Professional" using the following descriptors:
time & work management
career literacy
grit and resilience
work ethic; dependable and reliable
My Personal Definition: Professionalism to me is dedicating yourself to whatever you're working on or assigned to and making sure it gets done the right way first so you don't have to work on it again. Professionalism is having a good work ethic to see what you're working on all the way through to the end of it.
I worked at Maslow Academy as a teacher aid for about a year and a half, I assisted teachers during group activities as well as watch over kids during recess and lunch, pretty much all ages from toddler to fifth grade. I then got a retail job at Murdochs in the Freight Team department where I unbox clothing, price, and security tag them. When needed I'm also put out on the retail floor to assist customers and what needs they have, as well as making sure the clothing section of the store is in uniform condition.
I also have some experience as an intern at PEER Kindness where I assisted in revising and editing teaching materials that were taken to different schools K through 12. I also helped with office work which gave me experience answering the phones and assisting people in more of a office setting.
My goal in my career pathway as a Clinical Mental Health Therapist is to help others who are struggling through their teen and adult years. Among my goals I plan to prioritize the patients I work with and give them better guidance as they grow and change on the huge path called life. To accomplish this and to get into my future Career as a Mental Health Therapist I will be attending one year at CMU for Psychology and then making my way to Adams State University to pursue a Clinical Mental Health Degree.
Working Collaboratively: Working with others and not being afraid to share my own opinion and ideas with other people, even if that means working with new people I don't know. as well as making relationships with new team members to get out of my comfort zone to add more people to my contacts if needed in the future.
Attitude and Confidence: I needed to work on my confidence when it came to being around new people and speaking up for myself when it comes to collaborative working because I get really shy and overwhelmed in large group scenarios.
