WBL INTERNSHIP: INTERN AT WESTERN SLOPE ORTHOPEDICS
The Colorado Department of Education defines "Professional" using the following descriptors:
time & work management
career literacy
grit and resilience
work ethic; dependable and reliable
My Personal Definition:
In my opinion professionalism isn't just being respectful to coworkers, showing up on time, and making sure your'e dressed appropriately. It's showing empathy to patients and coworkers when they're having a rough day or just got delivered bad news. It's knowing when to ask questions and if they're appropriate or relevant enough to ask. Its being conscious of how you act in situations and if you're reflecting yourself the best possible way.
My Future Plans
In my future I strive to be an organized hardworking college student at CU boulder where I can study integrative physiology. I want to show the same work ethic I learned from the doctors and staff at western slope orthopedics to stay diligent in my school work in college and eventually go to med school.

Both of these are showing arthritis from X-rays, then an image of arthritis under an mri machine. When you have bone on bone arthritis you end up getting total joint replacements. To the left is a knee and to the right is a hip. In the middle is an MRI machine.

My Goals
Organization: Improve my time management and organizational skills by creating a schedule and write down what I need to do on a daily basis to help me stay on track.
Ask Questions: Improve my interpersonal skills by going out of my comfort zone to ask more questions to get the most out of my internship because the more you ask the more you know.
Be Confident: Try new things. Put yourself out there and break that comfort zone. Make the most out of your opportunity because times going to pass either way.
