Professional Portfolio
The Colorado Department of Education defines "Professional" using the following descriptors:
time & work management
career literacy
grit and resilience
work ethic; dependable and reliable
My Definition of Professionalism: The definition of professionalism changes from person to person, but in my opinion professionalism means you are honest, responsible, and have a good attitude toward all aspects of your career including who you work with and you are willing to learn to better your skills in the workplace.
Internship Overview
I aim to become a successful and passionate forester that is honest and respectful of the land and others. I strive to share my passion with others and hope it will reflect on my work. To achieve this goal I plan to attend college and graduate with a masters in Forest Management.
Soft-skills I Focused On:
Active Listening
communication
Teamwork
Professionalism
Proactive
Taking Initiative
Ask Question: Initially it is quite frightening to ask questions because you aren't sure how people will react, but asking questions is so important to learn new skills and those around me were always open to answering any questions I could think of,
Active Listening: This is is important to have in a learning environment because you can learn from everything you do and hear; and to be able to actively listen means you will be able to effectively learn and collaborate.
Collaboration: This is important in all work-places, including forestry because during my inturnship I was working with people just as often as with trees so early on into my internship I made it a goal to work as well as I could in those situation like meetings and other collaborative situations.
