COS Internship: Geyser Systems
The Colorado Department of Education defines "Professional" using the following descriptors:
time & work management
career literacy
grit and resilience
work ethic; dependable and reliable
I live by the quote "how you do anything is how you do everything". Professionalism stems from one persons willingness to not only get the job done accurately but also respect other's times. Being professional requires a certain level of maturity for self discipline to get tasks accomplished. In order to be considered a professional, I believe that you have to truly be engaged with the task. Professionals should have integrity and honesty. They are committed and always do what they say they are going to do. They are responsible and can be held accountable. People find them easy to work with and are able to resolve any problem that arises.
Audrey The Dog!
Where do you work?
I work at Geyser Systems here in Montrose. What we do here is we- we’re in the business of changing people’s relationships with water.
For you, what’s more important, making a lot of money or doing something you enjoy?
Doing something I enjoy. Hands down. Making a change in the world like we are, even though right now it’s a very small change, we are changing the world, we are changing the way people think about how they use water, and trying to make this world a better place.
SO lastly, if you were to have a conversation with your younger self, what would you tell them?
What would I tell them, that I, that I can say here? Um…
...I would tell my younger self that you think you’re going to be successful right out the gate, and in some things you will be! But it’s no a sprint. Your life, career and everything is a marathon. And it's about growing as a person into those places, to where you can be the best version of yourself you can be. And that’s time, that takes a lot of time. Don’t compare your timeline to anybody else. Ya know don’t set limits for yourself...
I hope to become more confident in myself when meeting new people, and eventually stray away from shyness!
I will ask questions when I am unsure or stuck on a task.
I will learn new tips and tricks that I hope to use in my life later on!
Communication - being able to communicate problems, questions, etc.
Listening - any work environment requires good listening to achieve goals and problem-solve.
