The Colorado Department of Education defines "Professional" using the following descriptors:
time & work management
career literacy
grit and resilience
work ethic; dependable and reliable
My Personal Definition- In my opinion professionalism is an attitude that individuals have in a work space. Its based on actions and personal qualities. Work ethic and passion is a true test of professionalism. Someone who is able to stay composed and prepared for the work space is one who can be admired. If someone one wants to improve how others view them they can work on their attire, quality of wok, and overall attitude.
I will use my senior-year athletic internship as a foundation for my interest in human performance and science.
Year 1: I will take basic science classes (biology, chemistry, psychology, math) and get experience by volunteering or working in a PT clinic or an animal/vet setting.
Year 2: I will take Anatomy & Physiology, Physics, and more advanced biology/chemistry classes. I’ll try to get a PT aide job or a lab/animal care position to build hands-on skills.
Year 3: I will take upper-level courses based on the path I choose—either biomechanics and exercise physiology for PT, or genetics and reproductive biology for embryology. I will also complete required observation hours or research hours.
Year 4: I will finish my major courses, complete a senior internship or research project, and apply to either DPT programs or graduate programs in reproductive/animal biology.
My final goal is to become either a physical therapist or an animal embryologist, depending on where my experience leads me.
