WBL Internship Western Skyways/Rocky Mountain Turbine
The Colorado Department of Education defines "Professional" using the following descriptors:
time & work management
career literacy
grit and resilience
work ethic; dependable and reliable
In my personal opinion: Professionalism is striving to always do better in the workplace. This can include asking questions of things that you may not know, showing up on time to your job, getting to know your coworkers better, and many more. Professionalism is more than showing up and doing the job. It is being invested in the job. There is quite a big difference. The biggest part of professionalism is your attitude. Without the right attitude, being professional is much harder.
Resume
Career Statement
It has been my dream for multiple years to become a pilot. I have been preparing since I got into high school to join the aviation industry. I plan on either joining a flight school. From the flight school, I will gain my hours to earn my ATP (Airline Transport Pilot) license by being a CFI (Certified Flight Instructor). Acquiring my ATP will allow me to work for an airline. Once I earn my ATP, I will join a small airline with the hopes to eventually work my up to a major airline. That is my plan after high school to make aviation my career.
Current Work Experience
I have been fortunate enough to start my own little business mowing lawns in the summer. It has taught me valuable lessons like responsibility, communication, and hard work. I have been able to put those skills to use in my internship and I plan to keep honing in on those skills once I enter my career.
Reflective Essay
Soft Skills I Worked On
1. Communication-It is ver important to be able to communicate effectively otherwise it can hinder the efficiency of the company.
2. Efficiency-There are deadlines that have to be met for when the engines have to be done and ready to go. That means I had to learn to be a more efficient worker.
3. Quality of Work-One of my supervisors put a huge emphasis to attention to detail because it shows what kind of worker you are. It is also a representation of the company so it is important to do the job right. Not to mention the fact that if someone does not do their job right, it can be dangerous for the customer.
Internship Goals
1. Get to know my colleagues. After a while of working in the two different shops, I was able to learn the names of most of my coworkers.
2. I was able to better understand the different parts of both Lycoming and continental engines. Doing so helps so that I actually know what I'm doing while at my site. It helps me to be a better worker.
3. Become more familiar with the world of general aviation.
