The Colorado Department of Education defines "Professional" using the following descriptors:
time & work management
career literacy
grit and resilience
work ethic; dependable and reliable
My Personal Definition:
When I think of the word professional i think of someone who is not only good at what they do, but someone who presents themselves in a respectful manner and comes off as intelligent. Being professional means putting your all into your job, being dependable, efficient and representing your job well every day.
I plan to become a flight nurse/paramedic. I want to be able to help people as much as possible. After high school, I want to go to college to get a bachelor's in nursing and then do the bridge between RN and paramedic to get my paramedic license. Once I'm out of school I want to work at a fire department for a couple of years before looking for jobs with flight companies.
I am currently in PLTW Biomed classes at the Montrose High School which have helped me learn a lot about the medical field. I'm also in the COS class. These classes have taught me how to persevere until I reach my goals, and have shown me my passion for medicine.
Self-Advocacy: I wanted to be able to ask questions and let the people at my site know when I needed something. This helped me form stronger relationships with the people I was working with.
Initiative: I wanted to have an idea of what I wanted to learn every day and be able to ask people to teach me about it. This helped me learn a lot more and a lot faster than I would have otherwise.
Informed Risk Taking: I wanted to be willing to try new things and figure them out without being scared. This helped me learn more and become more confident.
