The Colorado Department of Education defines "Professional" using the following descriptors:
time & work management
career literacy
grit and resilience
work ethic; dependable and reliable
A professional, in my opinion, is someone who not only displays the descriptors as CDE lists above, but truly empowers them through their work. The amount of detail and intention that goes into a persons work displays the love they have for their career. They display characteristics of good communication, independence, and are well-rounded in interpersonal skills.
My career goal is to be a successful and qualified business owner. Although I went into this internship with the intention of learning about the art of hairstyling, I found myself enjoying the business side of the internship as well. This has lead me to want to study business management. I am undecided as to where I will continue my education but I do know that I will prioritize being dedicated in my work in order to build empathetic lasting relationships with my clientele.
Constantly inquiring: gain confidence to ask questions that can help me personally understand the process of hair coloring.
Client conversation: effectively communicate with clients of all backgrounds in order to build trusting relationships.
Personal introduction: Comfortably introduce myself and continue conversation by sharing details about myself to build stronger connections within clients and co-workers
For the past three summers I have worked for Kuboske Construction as an office assistant. I have a very busy schedule during the school year due to being a three sport athlete so my boss and I have found that me working in the summers is an excellent compromise. This displays my willingness to learn given that before this job I had no business education. This also shows my loyalty and dedication to a job because I have worked there for multiple consecutive years.
