I started out with nursing and then I moved to Georgia, and I worked at Emory University Hospital for 4 years. And I met a patient's daughter that did anesthesia and she suggested that I go back to school and do anesthesia, she recommended becoming a nurse anesthetist. So, after looking into it, I applied to multiple programs, and I chose UCLA, and it was the anesthesia program through the medical school. And then I went back to school years later and got my PhD in Anesthesia and then I went back to school again, and I got my master's in business administration. And I stopped there.5.) What I like most about it is taking care of patients, doing an anesthetic that they’re satisfied with, that makes them happy, that decreases their pain and anxiety. And advocating for patients, for what is a good anesthetic and what they need. 8.) What do you like least about your job? What I like least about my job is taking call, I hate being up all night and all the next day. I liked it when I was younger, but it just takes its toll when you do it for the 30+ years that I've been doing it.9.) If you could give me one piece of career advice, what would it be? If you think you can’t do it, think again, because you can. You can do it, if you put your mind to it. And any subject that gives you grief like Chemistry, there's always people that can tutor you and help you through it and help you understand the important parts of it. So if you are doubting yourself about a career path, stop doubting and believe in yourself.
