My Personal Definition
Professionalism can have many different definitions, but personally i think it refers to respectful, and responsible ethical behavior expected while working with patients and families. It includes learning what questions to ask and when, showing compassion, and communicating clearly with clients and colleges. Professionalism also means prepared and eager to learn which means, accepting feedback, and asking questions.
I strive to go to college and eventually become a hardworking, loving pediatric sonographer. I will learn to give my young patients care and work with their emotions. I want to be able to talk parents through the situation of whatever is going on in the moment whether its good or bad news. i plan to achieve this by attending a 2-4 year college for sonoaphy then another 2-4 years specificly in pediatrics.
Communication- At my internship at the Family Center, learned how to communicate with different people, the mom, the dad, and young kids that came with. I forced myself to be more social which lead to my confidence increasing.
Teamwork- teamwork is a huge skill to have when working in patient care, almost everything you do involves at least 2 people. Whether its delivering a baby or even transferring information to the night shift nurses. I say nurses walk with each other down the halls checking in on patients together, i also helped with little things like giving the baby sugar water before getting it bool drawn.
Problem solving- i learned how to problem solve while at my internship, if something wasn't going right everyone would get together at talk about a solution. they would discuss their options and figure out which would be best for that specific patient
