WBL Internship: Rounds and Brooks CPAs
The Colorado Department of Education defines "professional" using the following descriptors:
Time and Work Management
Career Literacy
Grit and Resilience
Work Ethic; Dependable and Reliable
My Definition of Professionalism:
Professionalism, to me, isn't just how you present yourself to your employer, but also your coworkers and clients. You need to be respectful at all times, and be dependable. You also need to show a work ethic and be dedicated to the job or career your have chosen.
My Future Plan and Career Statement:
In the fall of 2026 I will be attending the University of Houston majoring in Accounting. I plan on focusing on my general education the first year, then my major the next four years. I will have to attend the University of Houston for five years, so I can get 150 credit hours without burning myself out. You need 150 credit hours to get your CPA license. I hope during these four years I can connect with teams on campus to help me find either a job or internship over the school year so I can further my accounting experience.
My overall goal is to become a CPA and be a partner for a firm. This goal stems from my internship at Rounds and Brooks because it opened me to a career I didn't even consider and option.
Current Experience and Employment:
I don't have a lot of experience in the accounting field other than my internship. I learned a lot though about digital literacy, different types of software in the business field, and how many tax and finance forms work. I also learned more about a professional work setting and what a typical office job would look like.
I also just started at Bank of Colorado as a teller. I'm handling things like a cash drawer, withdrawing and depositing check for others, and overall customer service. This will also help with my career because working with any sort of money will be helpful in accounting.

Goals I Set For Myself:
Time Management: I wanted to be better about pacing myself when I work and not get wrapped up in one project and overwork myself.
Be More Confident: I wanted to get better and starting up conversations with strangers, and believeing that I can actually do something new and hard.
Get Better At Asking For Help: I've always had this complex that I can do it on my own, but when something's new you need help at first so I got way better about asking my supervisors for clarification or if they can show me how to do something one more time.
