The Colorado Department of Education defines "Professional" using the following descriptors:
time & work management
career literacy
grit and resilience
work ethic; dependable and reliable
Professionalism, to me means to be reliable and credible in not only the work space but beyond that, in the classroom and in public.
What do you like most about your job?
What I really like about my job is just being able to help people and being able to solve problems and learn along the way with the people I’m surrounded with
What do you like least about your job?
The part I like least about my job probably is at times it could be difficult you know? Being so new into the trade and being an electrician and stuff you come across new problems everyday so it’s not really always the same so just really overcoming that is a little bit of a challenge
What’s more important to you? Making a lot of money or doing something you like?
Honestly doing something I like because I mean the money just comes after it but being able to help people and just being able to learn and that way I can perfect the trade and later on make even more money.
If you could be in a different business what do you think it’d be?
If I could choose a different business, probably something to do with mechanics. I like mechanics and vehicles a lot so I feel like that’s what I would specialize in.
How many hours do you work every week?
I wanna say a steady 30 if it’s slow, 40 if it’s real busy and doing good
My plan for my future is to attend the Electrical Line Worker Program at CMU Tech in Grand Junction, CO and get a job with the Union working wherever my expertise is needed. I believe that being able to use this internship at Canyon Creek Electric in my resume really sets me apart from the rest of the applicants trying to get into the Line Worker trade.
I've had a job since I was 15 years old and i started at Culver's. During my year and half at Culver's I learned every position in the front of the house and was a very reliable efficient worker. Since then I've made the switch over to Discount Tire and have been there since July of 2024. Throughout my time there, I've learned almost all there is to tires and how to mount and balance them.
Punctuality: Going into this internship I really focused on my punctuality. I think that being punctual every day shows responsibility in the work place and I feel that i accomplished that really well.
Patience: Patience was a goal i set for myself in the terms of being patient with myself because going into something I'm not familiar with can be frustrating, especially if I'm not great at it from the start. What I did to actively work on this was just positive self talk when working on a new or difficult task. It also really helped having patient and understanding supervisors around the office.
Critical Thinking: I believe I have always been a great critical thinker, in situations and circumstances I'm familiar with. I feel that I grew immensely in this area. One example of this was when i was helping out tagging certain items and inventory in the warehouse and suddenly the label printer malfunctioned ans got jammed. I demonstrated critical thinking in this area by taking the small printer apart and fixing it.
