The "flashcard method" of writing is as follows;
writing each individual scene on index cards and placing them in sequential order. This is beneficial for a couple reasons, mainly that sometimes scenes just pop into your head you know should be included but figuring out where to put them is harder than it sounds. By just writing them all in a jumble of notecards, I was able to reorder them as many times as I needed for it to make the most sense in the context of the main storyline. This also allowed for easy removal or addition of scenes simply by taking out one card instead of writing the list of events all over again.
I used the flashcard method to properly organize my scenes before undertaking the massive goal of writing my book. The night before these pictures were taken, inspiration hit me like a ton of bricks and I wrote down every scene on these cards.
Color coded by time period, as this novel has a lot of time jumping, I placed all these cards in chronological order on my kitchen island. Pretty much all the scenes made it into the final version of my book, and when I write my next novel I will for sure use this method again.
